It started with a desire to make movies...

Do you like movies? I do. I've got quite a DVD collection. I really like a well crafted story that pulls you in and takes you places. Unfortunately, I really haven't liked most of the Christian movies I've seen. Either the story was weak and predictable, or the acting was mediocre, or something was lacking. I had this dream of producing great movies with godly values that were worth watching. 

I've been a video producer since 2001 and a full-time minister before that. After several years producing television commercials, web videos and other presentations, I took an online course on screen writing called, "Faith In Film" developed by Cindy Martinez. I took the course because the story, not just the camera work, was important to me. The short course was eye opening! It helped me to identify some of those weaknesses that I saw in movies - weaknesses that started with the story itself - long before anything appears on screen.

While writing a screenplay called, "Snowed Inn," I connected with Linda Boulanger, an old friend from high school. It seemed we both shared a desire to write. She wanted to write a novel; I wanted to write screenplays. Soon we started writing short stories for a weekly challenge hosted by FaithWriters.com, and noticed that we frequently placed in the top 5 of our writing level. A friend who'd read my screenplay then a sample of my short story work suggested I pursue novel writing. 

Linda and I compiled several of our short stories and published our first book together called, Time Out On A Roller Coaster in 2009. It a lot of work, but we did it!

I'm working on my first Christian fiction novel now about an ambitious young preacher who must choose between truth or glory. We all have similar struggles where choosing righteousness isn't easy. Should you read the book, I hope find your faith is challenged in an entertaining way. The blog will have more information on when it will be finished and available. Who knows? It might become a movie someday!
